Coahuila: Pioneering the Future of Electric Vehicle Manufacturing in Mexico
Coahuila, a burgeoning hub for electric vehicle and automotive manufacturing, is making significant strides in the industry, attracting major investments from LG-Magna e-Powertrain, LG-Electronics, and International Inc. The state reported $13.5 billion in international sales in 2019, with the US being its largest trading partner (90.9%). Key exports include vehicle parts and accessories ($4.21 billion), automotive seats ($1.89 billion), and engine parts ($948 million). Major cities like Ramos Arizpe, Saltillo, and Torreón have become attractive destinations for prominent companies like Siemens, Texas Instruments, Samsung Electronics, Eaton, Applied Materials, Emerson, Broadcom, ABB, Motorola Mobility, and National Instruments. Yanfeng’s recent $17 million investment in its second plant in Santa María is set to generate 1,000 additional manufacturing jobs by 2023, further solidifying Coahuila’s role in the future of electric vehicle production.
